Hurricane Katrina Images p. 580

The images of Hurricane Katrina made me think of how destructive and devastating this time was for the people of New Orleans and the communities nearby. I recall how FEMA (Federal Emergency anagement Agency) did such a poor job in helping and recovering people and supplies caught in the Hurricane eye, and it made our country look pathetic in helping our own citizens. Senator Kunich from Michigan stated in a 2007 Democratic Primary for President, that he would get rid of FEMA and start a whole new government organization to help reflief and aid to people caught in natural disasters. I agree with is proposition, and feel FEMA is not the best governmental organization to aid i natural disaster.
There are too many natural disasters and occurences of hurricanes, floods, wildfires that occurr in the South Easetern region of the US. There needs to be another way of aiding people in these horrible weather cycles that is also been contributed by Global Warming. Food, water, shelter, and medicine are resources our country needs in time of a hurricane, flood or fire, and most of it during Hurrican Katrina was in Iraq.

  1. Your post was more of a retrospective than a summary. However it is rather insightful. You obviously have some background on the whole Katrina situation and have certain opinionated views.

  2. Shamil is right; this isn't a summary but a response. Two very different things. No points on this one. --kh
