Twitter Assessment

Twitter is a social networking website that contains a myriad of micro-blogging and social interactions  amongst a users peers, professional colleagues, and other social networking organizations to openly blog and discuss issues or comments in which the user can freely express. These micro blogs are labelled as "tweets", and are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Users can openly read other users blogs and updates, and in return make comments back on users tweets. Other member or followers are also open to join into a users rebuttal or comment on another members tweet, and create a string of micro-blogs from the initial comment. CNN and other news and television networks use the Twitter site to review comments on social or political issues that can be view and discuss by television newscasters or commentators. Celebrities, politicians, and even private companies use twitter for multiple uses, mainly to receive feedback on their political or social status on particular issues or matter they are involved with. Twitter ultimately is a free social networking site to the public, and represents an open forum for individuals and organizations to freely comment and blog on issues that the member wants to address.

After I created an account this past weekend with twitter, I felt it is a useful site for creating small blogs or tweets with friends and colleagues. I was not able to understand how to find other twitter members or organizations such as CNN to post a comment on an issue that is being address to a larger network of twitter members. Since I am new to the site, I have had trouble to navigate through the site and its other features that can modify or change  how my twitter account can be use or viewed by other members. For private information of a twitter member being visible, I feel that information on twitter is less apparent than other social networking sites, and limits a user from posting too much information such as personal contact information, photos, and video blogging. Twitter appears to mainly serve as a blogging service that many social networking sites have but again, is a myriad of micro-blogging and social interactions amongst a users peers and serve more for a individual to openly blog and discuss issues or comments for a smaller network of individuals.
